Stoke St Gregory 293 for 5  -  Brompton Ralrh III 73 all out

Here we are again, not sure yet were our home ground is this year as we come up to Brompton fro the second time in three weeks.
Mark Dare won the toss and chooses to bat. Maybe a good thing or not, Stoke did not start as well as they hoped, losing three wickets with the score 56 it was not looking good. Enter Mark Vigar, Mark and Paul Morse (80) started to control the innings and the runs soon started to flow. Paul’s 50 came soon after was Mark’s but he had not finished yet. He just seamed to lift the run rate at ease. He went on to make his 100 with a push off his legs for an easy single. You would then think he would push on but no he just pushed the ball round fro singles until he was out for 112. (Well batted Mark). Neil Sollis (35*) and Tom Duxbury (11*) then pushed the score on to 293 with Sollis scoring his runs from only 13 balls.

In the field it was the time for Sollis (2/15) and last weeks star Simon Willey (4/33) get there teeth into the Brompton Batsmen. Soon the bat with no luck. It took till the first ball of the seventh over for the wickets to start to fall. New boy S.Reeks as our keeper took 4 catches and one in the chest. Tom Duxbury (3/17) then came on and finished the innings of with some different spin bowling. This being another good day in the office as it were.

Curry Rivel 56 all out  -  Stoke St Gregory  57 for 3

On a cold wet Stoke day Mark Dare won the toss and put Curry Rivel into bat. It was not long before Stoke where in the wickets with a steady walk in and out of the dry. Simon Willey was the main star for Stoke taking 7 for 16 with help from N.Sollis (1/18) and John Howlett (2/17), it was soon time to find a towel and get dried of.

Stoke then keeping more than one eye on the weather went back out before tea to try and get into the runs, it all looked to be going wrong losing two wickets before tea and a big mix up from M.Dare (22*) and Simon Cross (18) where they had a chat and maybe a cup of tea before returning to there ends. Having lost the third wicket soon after tea Mark Vigar (6*) joined M.Dare to see Stoke home for a first win of the season

Brompton Ralph II 190 for 10 - Stoke St Gregory 145 for 10

New season, new captain, new players, same story. Mark Dare as the new captain having lost the toss was asked to field on an unusually hot May Saturday at Brompton Ralph.

With the old war horses opening the bowling all hopes were on N.Sollis and S.Willey to get us of to a good start. It took till the 9th over for the first wicket, G.Rowe (28) cutting a wide ball straight atd P.Morse.  Soon after Stoke had 2 more wickets and started to look like they knew what they were doing.  Drinks came the two war horses by now starting to fade and in need of fluid (lager would have been good).

Enter C.Pitman into the attack, Stoke were hoping that Brompton would ease up at this time owing to the fact that two of there players work for Pitman and he had already threatened them with their P45, but no, it was starting to look good as R.Welch (36) and H.Auton(19) put on 42, Welch run out by a bit of a mix up, who was out, no one sure so of goes Welch.  Pitman (3/32) and Tilley continue to bowl Brompton out with their mix of Spin. With all of the Brompton batsmen finally out for 190 runs.

Stokes hopes pinned on a good start with P Tilley (39) and P Morse (30). Tilley scoring freely at the start and making it look like a batting game. Tilley soon after drove one straight at cover, two more wickets fell quickly soon after. Stokes hopes then pinned on 1 shot Cross (15), 1 shot looked to be working, one shot to many, up it goes, back to the pavilion he goes.  Pitman (15) and M.Dare (22) now try to steady the ship all looked rosy again (or was that the first pint) until Pitman was caught by a good low one handed dive. The rest soon followed and it was time to head back to the bar and try to win in there.
